These are the musings of a retired male. Some may be interesting, some may be boring, but all will be true. It will contain info om PEI and some links I find interesting. Pull up a chair and enjoy.

Eye test

Well I went to Ch'town to get Dr Toombs to test my eyes for glasses and the good news is that my eyes haven't changed much in the last 2 years and so little change that I have a choice if I want to get new glasses or not. She said it would not make much difference so I am not going to bother right now, I may some time down the road.
Now the bad news she told me that I was developing cataracts and would need an operation sometime down the road, I should have ask her when but I was so surprised I never thought to ask. Well what the hell if I get cataracts I get cataracts so no since loosing sleep over it. At least they can fix them, more than I can say for most of my aliments. I will get into the chest pains in the next few days but don't want to complain to much in one entry or I will be boring anyone who might happen to read this junk I write.
After 3 sunny, warm, beautiful days it is raining again today. This is the longest stretch of sunny weather we have had in a while just so bad it had to end so soon but it is supposed to be fine on the weekend, something else we haven't had for a while.

Street sale.

Today is the first day of the annual lobster carnival street sale and such a bunch of junk you have never seen in your life. The only place that you will find anything worthwhile at a good price is Crocketts Jewellers and I was lucky and found 2 candle sticks that were originally $50. a pair and I got them for $8.00, not bad eh. Wife likes them because they have a cat on the front of them that reminds you of our Jake.
Got my first box of island strawberries today and my god were they ever good. I will go picking in a couple of days and freeze a bunch for the winter with no sugar, mine for the winter. They are real good on Anglefood cake with whipped cream. I should not be eating them but what the hell if diabetes were my only problem I might try to do better.

Lobster carnival parade

Today I walked down to the corner of Beattie and Grandville streets to watch the annual Lobster carnival Parade. I took my trusty Sony Digital camera with me and took 91 pics. When I got home I tried to download them to my computer and could not so that kind of PO'd me but I know the computer needs to go in for a tune up so I guess I can't put it off anymore so wens when I go to town to get my eyes tested I will take it to future shop. That is where I bought it and it has 5 years extended warranty on it so if it is bad atleast fiuure shop will pay for it,
Hotter that hell here todat, in fact it was 29 this afternoon, not the best when it never got over 18 most of last week. If it never got this hot again I would be happy but since I do not live on PEI by myself and most people seem to like the heat they can have it, not that long before we are into September and my time of the year.
PEISO will be having another car wash on July 24 so Gordie Arsenault and I have decided to go back down to that one but we will do atleast a double shift, start at 9:30 and through at 12:30, no breakfast r\this time but I told Gordie I would take him for a burger after. Damn near froze last time but it was a lot of fun and made a few bucks for a good cause.
I will try to make an entry tomorrow because if I take my computer down to Ch'town I will not have it back for 10 days.
Have a good day you all.

Get off my butt

Well here it is Sunday and I have not posted for a week so I had better get off my butt and write something, not that the world is waiting patiently but I find it fun. The fun part is you never know who reads it and than you wonder what they are thinking, I just hope it makes sense to them and they return sometime down the road.
Well yesterday Gordie my buddy and I went to a car wash in Ch,town for PEISO at Home Hardware. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and washed about $200.00 worth of vehicles which really surprised me. We are having another one in 2 weeks on July 24 at the same site and Gordie and I will go for a double shift from 9:30 to 12:30 than we will get a Berger and than come back to S'side. One thing that I noticed is that about 80% of the washes were for vans or 1/2 ton trucks. When we got a small car thought we died and went to heaven.
Well it is a crappy day again today temp is 12C. Cloudy, and showers. This could be the year that we don't get any summer to talk about. The weather predictions are that the weather will warm up and dry up and the rest of summer will be real good. Living on PEI you know that by Aug 15TH the real hot stuff is over, not that we don't get good weather but nothing to hot.
Yesterday afternoon the members of my internet group had their monthly BBQ at the Capt's place in Albany PEI. Amazingly everyone got lost and couldn't find the place and if you have never been to Albany it has maybe 25 houses. After we all finally arrived we had a real good time and enough food to feed the Russian army. Not to many attend but we seem to get a different 2 or 3 everytime and that makes it worth the effort. I enjoy something like this as I am a people person and like meeting and associating with people.
