These are the musings of a retired male. Some may be interesting, some may be boring, but all will be true. It will contain info om PEI and some links I find interesting. Pull up a chair and enjoy.

Random Thoughts

Well yesterday I said I would do a column on my partner in crime Frankie but I will do that a little later on when our survivor game is over. Well she is starting to come around to the idea of removing "Z" this round if he does not get immunity which makes a lot of sense if we want to get to the final 2. With "Z" gone we are almost a shoo in for the finals, not that I don't think Riki cant win but we have the votes to eliminate her. Still have little doubts about Frankie, but hope to get them cleared up before voting time comes on Thursday.
PM'd PEI_GUY today to ask if he is willing to get together after the game so we could do a story on the game from the prospective of both teams. Quite a few people seem to be following the game and might make an interesting read for them. We could analyze our teammates, plans, and what we had to do to survive. I haven't heard back from him yet but hope to get a yes from him. We might get Just to publish it for us. HAHAHA.

Movie contest

Well what do you know I finally won the challenge last night for setting up a movie on oracle I really lucked out on the area on chance of winning an Oscar, I had my movie picked and had the usual 8% chance to be nominated for Oscar when I run it once more by adding John Goodman and % jumped up to 46. That is what put me way over the top, I had 552 points #2 had around 360. Rob the moderator thought I took advantage of a loophole, almost said as a union rep I can smell loopholes a mile away but it might antagonize him and would not be true, just dumb luck.
Well my alliance is still holding up I think but I am a little worried as I made a suggestion as to who we should take out next time for us to be sure to be the final two and there was no agreement. The answer I got was that if by some chance one of us got eliminated in the final three that the one left would win because that person is not popular. I have some problems with this plan such as, if you make it to the final two I consider it a victory for both, and you will not win by taking chances, you win by making the right moves at the right times and removing the people who you think can beat you. The big problem is that I don't really believe he is that unpopular their is just one player really pissed with him and his posts are most entertaining. Also my partner will beat the crap out of me in the finals if we can hold this alliance together for two more cuts.
I guess why I am writing this post tonite is that if my partner will not go with my plan I am afraid I will have to turn on her and that would really bother me. I don't mind losing to her in the final two because that was the plan that we get to the final two. Hopefully she will come around before the next vote or if she doesn't have immunity I am afraid I will have to turn on her.
If that happens I will have this blog entry on June 8 to try to explain what went wrong and why I voted her off, if the alliance holds together I can show her how much stress she put me under and how close she came to swimming with the fishes. I have never met her but I like her and her attitude towards life. My next blog is going to be about her but she will not see this site until the game is over or I have to vote for her to have her final swim.
The game can be found at: . It is also a good site to get info about P.E.I.

Jake

Today I am going tell you about Jake the cat. Many years ago Jake showed up at our door about the 20'th of December half starved and slightly beat up. The lady of the house went to Sobeys and got some food for him but he was a very timid cat and would only eat if the food was placed a distance from the door and you came back in the house. This went on for about two weeks and believe me folks it is not warm on PEI in December. Well I must admit that cats are smart but so are wives as every day the food would be placed a little closer to the door. Finally on New Years Day when the door was opened early to feed Jake he simply walked in curled up on the wife's knee and went to sleep. We have been blessed with Jake since that day. This was 15 years ago and Jake is still master of the house, you know what they say, you call a dog and he comes, you call a cat and they take a message.
Jake was an abused and abandoned cat before he choose us to be his companions, at first he was very comfortable with the lady of the house but had little to do with me and we figure had a bad experience with a male. If people don't like animals that is their business just stay away from them. Anybody who is cruel to animals is not someone you can trust in my book and will never be a friend of mine. Soon though with my winning smile and wonderful personality I won Jakes friendship.
Well Jake is still with us, getting up in cat years and if I wrote this piece for hundreds of pages I could never tell all the joy Jake has brought to this home.
Over the years Jake has had his health problems, a few years ago he had kidney problems which meant a few days stay at the vet clinic. Next one of his eyes started to act up so its back to the vet clinic and the removal of his right eye, followed to a trip to the vet collage in Ch'town. This past winter the poor old bugger went deaf. Nothing seems to bother him no matter what happens to him he takes it in stride and roams around the house purring.
I like to say I have the best looking nicest one eyed deaf cat this side of Venus, and I mean that.
Jake has been a great companion and a wonderful pet to us and my wish is everyone could have a Jake and experience the joy he has brought to our lives. I read somewhere that people with pets live a more satisfied life and you will get no argument from me.

Rambling thoughts

Well here it is Monday and 11 years ago today was my last day at work, before you do the math I am not 76 years old I had to retire because of poor health. Now I take 17 pills a day plus I shoot up with 10 units of insulin every evening. I had a quadruple bypass surgery in November 2000. Less than I year later in Oct 2001 I went to Dublin Ireland and did my first marathon. Walked it but 26.2 miles is quite a walk and it took me 7 hours 8 minutes. As bad as my health sounds I am in a lot better shape than quite a few people I know. I am going to enjoy myself as long as possible.
Not much more I will say today just that I have sent in my entry for the game I am playing on line. If I don't win and I don't expect to hopefully my alliance will hold up.
Some day soon after the game is over I will explain it all out to youse guys.

The game

Well here it is Sunday, I missed Sat but was at a meet for members of a site I go to a lot to discuss what is happening on PEI and the world.
We also had to vote one more person off the island of this little game we are playing. For the first time we voted off a member of our team and he took it very badly, posted many comments on what he thought of his former team mates, we took him completely by surprise as he was telling me he expected to be one of at least the final 4 and only one person,"Z" his teammate could stop him from winning. Never spend the winners check until you get it in the bank.
Oh yes I enjoyed the meet, only 7 showed up but the right 7 as we had a good time. One of the boys is a fisherman and he brought a bunch of lobster with him, they were delicious.
